THE STONERIVER SCOOP
Help Us Make It Six Years Strong:
Best Places to Work Survey Returns July 28
What makes StoneRiver a great place to work?
The answer isn’t found in a policy, a benefit package, or a company initiative—it’s found in our people.
For the sixth consecutive year, StoneRiver is proud to participate in the Best Places to Work in Multifamily® program, presented by Multifamily Leadership and Best Companies Group. This prestigious industry recognition celebrates organizations that foster exceptional workplace cultures and prioritize employee engagement, development, and satisfaction.
Over the years, your feedback has helped StoneRiver earn outstanding rankings among multifamily companies across the country. Those achievements are a direct reflection of the culture we’ve built together—one rooted in collaboration, growth, accountability, and a shared commitment to excellence.
This year’s employee survey will open on July 28 and remain available through August 18. During that time, you’ll receive an email from Surveys@BestCompaniesGroup.com with the subject line, “Best Places to Work in Multifamily® – Employee Survey.”
When the survey arrives, we encourage every team member to participate. It only takes a few minutes to complete, but the impact is significant. Your honest feedback helps benchmark our organization against the best in the industry, identify opportunities for improvement, and showcase the culture that makes StoneRiver unique.
Most importantly, this survey gives every employee a voice in shaping the future of our workplace.
Whether you’ve been with StoneRiver for years or recently joined the team, your perspective matters. Every response helps tell the story of who we are and where we’re headed.
Thank you for everything you do to make StoneRiver a place where people can thrive, grow, and succeed. We look forward to hearing your feedback and continuing our tradition of excellence together.
Mark your calendars for July 28, watch your inbox, and help us make Year Six our strongest yet!

StoneRiver Teams Give Back Across Our Communities
At StoneRiver, our commitment to creating stronger communities extends far beyond the properties we manage and develop. Throughout Volunteer Day, teams across our portfolio rolled up their sleeves and dedicated their time to causes that make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
Vital at Springbrook Supports Hunger Relief
The team at Vital at Springbrook spent their Volunteer Day serving at Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee, helping support the organization’s mission of providing food to individuals and families facing hunger.
Working together in an assembly-line process, the team transformed bulk cereal donations into family-sized portions ready for distribution. Team members carefully weighed cereal into individual bags, applied nutritional labels, sealed the packages, and prepared them for delivery. While the task may have seemed simple, every bag prepared represented a meal that would help support someone in need throughout the community.
Concord Ridge Serves Those Experiencing Homelessness
At Concord Ridge, the team partnered with A Roof Above, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals experiencing homelessness and housing instability.
The team spent the day assembling sandwiches that were distributed directly to members of the homeless community. Through this hands-on effort, they provided more than a meal; they delivered compassion, dignity, and support to individuals facing difficult circumstances.
Magnolia Grove Celebrates Community at the Terrell Jubilee
The Magnolia Grove team volunteered at the Arts & Crafts Tent during the annual Terrell Jubilee, helping create a welcoming and enjoyable experience for festival attendees.
By supporting one of the community’s signature events, the team helped foster local connections and contributed to a celebration that brings residents, families, artists, and businesses together each year.
Living Our Values Through Service
Whether packaging food, preparing meals, or supporting community events, these teams demonstrated what it means to be Community Focused. Their efforts reflect the spirit of StoneRiver and the positive impact we can make when we invest our time and talents in the communities we serve.
Thank you to the teams at Vital at Springbrook, Concord Ridge, and Magnolia Grove for representing StoneRiver so well and making a meaningful difference through their service.

Summer Grill & Fire Safety
Get ready to fire up those grills because summer will officially arrive on June 21st! As the days get longer and the weather warms up, it’s the perfect time to embrace outdoor cooking. But before you light that flame, let’s talk about something crucial: grilling and fire safety!
Grilling can be an exhilarating experience, but it’s important to remember that you’re working with fire — and that can lead to unexpected challenges. Each year, thousands of residents learn this lesson the hard way, facing property damage and injuries from grilling accidents. In fact, the National Fire Prevention Association reports around 8,800 home fires caused by grilling annually!
The bright side? You have the power to keep your summer memorable for all the right reasons! By following a few simple safety tips, you can ensure that the only thing you cook is delicious burgers, not any accidents. So, get ready to sizzle safely, and check out these essential grilling safety tips to make this summer fun and worry-free!
Grilling Safety Tips For All Grills:
- Whether you’re rocking a gas or charcoal grill, make sure it’s set up on a stable, level surface outside and keep it well away from anything that could catch fire, like those pesky bushes and fences!
- Here’s a crucial safety tip: never even think about grilling indoors! Those invisible carbon monoxide fumes can be deadly, so let the great outdoors be your culinary playground.
- To keep the grilling fun going, give your grill some love with regular cleanings and maintenance. Check all the parts often to ensure everything is in tip-top shape before you sizzle up those delicious meals.
- And remember, a hot grill is a hot ticket! Never leave it unattended, and keep the kids at a safe distance while you unleash your grilling genius.
Gather ’round for some essential grilling safety tips for Charcoal Grills that will keep the flames dancing without a hitch!
- First off, never—under any circumstances—add lighter fluid to hot coals. The flames can leap right up the stream, potentially leading to a fiery accident! Stick to safer lighting options instead.
- And when it comes to ignition, steer clear of gasoline or kerosene; these substances are not just dangerous—they’re fire hazards waiting to happen!
- Always gear up with flame-retardant mitts and long-handled tongs, because those coals can soar to a scorching 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Now, for the grand finale: when it’s time to dispose of those coals, patience is key! Let them cool for at least 48 hours to ensure safety. In a hurry? Carefully place each coal into a bucket of sand or water to put out any lingering embers. Happy grilling and stay safe!
Grilling Safety Tips For Gas Grills:
- Before you take that first sizzle, make sure your grill is safe. Start by checking the hoses for leaks — simply mix soap and water and apply it to the hoses. If you see bubbles, you’ve got a leak! Don’t panic; turn off the grill and call the fire department if the leak persists.
- While you’re cooking up a storm, if you catch a whiff of gas, it’s time to take action! Step away from the grill and call the fire department immediately. Safety first!
- And remember, never store a filled propane tank in a hot car or trunk, and make sure to refill propane tanks as your last stop before heading home. Finally, always keep those propane tanks upright and outdoors.
As always, please remind your residents about the Community Regulations regarding grills and flammable materials. All grills and related items (including charcoal, lighter fluid, etc.) may not be stored in or around the apartment building and must be kept at least 10 feet away from any structure. If your community provides gas or charcoal grills for residents to use, please be sure to remind them of the safety rules. Utilizing e-blasts, text messages, and clear signage is essential for effectively communicating this information to your residents.

Take Charge of Your Health: Staying Hydrated
Staying well hydrated is one of the simplest and most powerful ways to support your overall health. Water helps regulate body temperature, support digestion, keep joints moving comfortably and maintain steady energy throughout the day.
The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine recommends a daily fluid intake of about 11.5 cups (2.7 liters) for women and 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) for men. However, your personal hydration needs may vary depending on factors such as physical activity, climate, health conditions and life stage. These guidelines include fluids from water, other beverages and food. Try these tips to make hydration part of your everyday routine:
Track your intake.
Health and wellness apps, smartwatches and connected water bottles can help you monitor how much you drink and identify hydration patterns over time.
Set gentle reminders.
Phone alerts or wearables can prompt you to sip water throughout the day, helping you build consistency without overthinking it.
Keep water within reach.
Carrying a reusable water bottle makes it easier to drink when you’re busy and serves as a visual cue to hydrate more often.
Make hydration fun.
Whether it’s a bold color, built‑in straw, LED reminders, temperature display or motivational time markers, a water bottle you enjoy using can make drinking water feel less like a chore and more like a habit you look forward to.
Add natural flavor.
Infuse water with fruits, vegetables, or herbs, such as lemon, cucumber, berries, mint, or ginger, to make it more appealing without added sugar.
